Tuesday, 27th May 2025, marked the highly anticipated launch of the inaugural Innovation Challenge at Kabarak University Online (KABUO). The Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Outreach initiated a rigorous review and evaluation process, highlighting the vibrant spirit of innovation that thrives within the university community.

At Kabarak University, we recognize that transformative innovation flourishes through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships. In pursuit of excellence and impactful entrepreneurship, our delegation, led by Dr. Phillip W. Nyawere, Ag. Director, Research, Innovation and Outreach, and Andrew K. Kipkebut, PhD, Coordinator, Innovation and Business Incubation, recently embarked on a benchmarking tour at JHUB Africa, the renowned innovation hub at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). 

Kabarak University continues to position itself as a leader in innovation and technological advancement, with its Business Incubation Coordinator, Dr. Andrew Kipkebut, contributing to critical conversations on agricultural transformation at GITEX AFRICA. This premier technology event, set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from April 14-16, 2025, brings together global experts to explore cutting-edge solutions in AI, Agritech, and sustainable food systems.

From October 7th to 12th, 2024, a dedicated team from Kabarak University's Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Outreach (RIO) participated in the prestigious Empretec Entrepreneurship Training Program, held at the in Nakuru. The workshop, hosted by and under The (KIEP), aimed to empower participants with key entrepreneurial skills and competencies.

Kabarak University is proud to be collaborating with Maseno University and other Kenyan institutions in the AFRICA NEXT VOICES project, a one-year pilot initiative funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The project is focused on preserving local languages through data collection, led by the KenCorpus consortium, a coalition of Kenyan universities. The aim is to create a digital corpus for five key languages spoken in Kenya: Dholuo, Gikuyu, Somali, Kalenjin (Nandi/Kipsigis dialects), and Maasai.

The African Centre for Career Enhancement & Skills Support (ACCESS) recently convened a Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshop in partnership with Mount Kenya University at the Maxland Hotel in Juja. The event, titled "Synergizing Skills: Bridging Academia and Industry for Career Excellence," sought to address the critical mismatch between academic education and the demands of the modern job market.

Kabarak University kicked off the Data Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge 2024 today, igniting a spark of creativity and problem-solving. The event held at KLAW 5, welcomed a global audience eager to explore the exciting world of data-driven solutions.

Kabarak University is proud to announce its participation in a vital program designed to bridge the gap between research and commercialization. Viktoria Ventures, in partnership with KENIA, held a two-week Training of Trainers (TOT) program in March and May 2024, focusing on "Running a Successful Research to Commercialization (R2C) Program."

On February 15th, 2024, officials from the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Andrew Kipkebut, the Coordinator of Innovation and Business Incubation at Kabarak University. The visit served as a platform to discuss critical matters concerning Kenya's economic transformation, with a particular emphasis on leveraging innovation hubs to bolster the nation's digital economy.
