For Meshack Ledama, pharmacy was more than just a degree choice; it was a meeting point of science, service, and opportunity. He was drawn to the idea of understanding how medicines work, while also being directly involved in improving patient lives.
“One myth I wish people would stop believing is that pharmacists just count pills. In reality, we prevent drug interactions, ensure safety, and often catch serious issues before they happen,” he explains.
That drive to create impact became the foundation for not just his academic path, but also his entrepreneurial ventures.
Building Beyond the Classroom
Alongside his pharmacy studies, Meshack runs a group of businesses under the Ledama and Dr. Ledama brands, each meeting different community needs:
- Ledama Meds – a trusted pharmacy.
- Dr. Ledama Beauty Collection – skincare, beauty, and wellness products.
- Ledama Killishop – a pickup point for Kilimall orders.
- Dr. Ledama Buy & Sell Shop – quality second-hand items.
- Dr. Ledama Shaving Parlor – professional grooming services.
“The secret is consistency, customer care, and community trust. I focus on relationships, honesty, and ensuring people get value for their money.”
The Balancing Act
Managing multiple businesses while pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy hasn’t been easy. There are days packed with lectures from 7 AM to 4 PM, followed by checking stock at the beauty shop, resolving a double-booking at the shaving parlour, and still finding time to revise for exams.
“Sometimes I felt like CEO, HR, manager, and cleaner all in one,” he laughs. “But the challenges shaped me. They taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of purpose.”
Even the funniest moments carried lessons like the day a customer spotted him rushing in a lab coat from Ledama Meds into the barbershop and asked if he was both the pharmacist and the barber.
Finding Rhythm: Study & Business
Balancing late-night study sessions with early-morning business calls has come down to planning, discipline, and controlled chaos.
Meshack relies on to-do lists, alarms, power naps, and a strong sense of purpose: “The drive to succeed in both pharmacy and business keeps me going.”
Philosophy & Guiding Words
Meshack’s outlook is simple and practical:
- “Start small, but start now. Learn by doing.”
- “Consistency beats intensity every time.”
- “Wellness shouldn’t expire; quality healthcare is our priority.”

Looking Ahead
Meshack envisions a future where his pharmacy expertise and business acumen merge to create sustainable impact. Inspired by mentors like Dr. Achoka (Zen Dawa Pharmaceuticals) and Dr. Peter Mugeni (Meds Pharmaceuticals), he hopes to expand beyond dispensing medicines into shaping healthcare systems and access.
“Pharmacy is not just about prescriptions. It’s about solving health challenges and improving lives. Business is the tool to scale that impact.”
Meshack Ledama’s story is one of grit, vision, and balance proving that with purpose and consistency, it’s possible to build both knowledge and enterprise, even before graduation.
