On 8th September 2025, ten faculty members from the School of Computer Science and Information Technology at Kabarak University participated in a Curriculum Review Workshop hosted at the Microsoft Garage ADC in Nairobi. The session was facilitated by Irene Githinji, Head of Ecosystem at Microsoft, together with a team of Microsoft ADC engineers.
The workshop was designed to review, refine, and strengthen the school’s academic programs, ensuring they remain relevant to both academic standards and industry expectations.
Through a highly interactive format, the workshop provided a collaborative, industry-aligned platform where faculty engaged in in-depth discussions on how best to:
- Benchmark programs with current global and regional technology trends.
- Integrate emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Data Science into teaching and learning.
- Align teaching approaches with industry practices, innovation ecosystems, and workplace expectations.
- Equip graduates with both technical expertise and 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability.
Faculty members worked directly with Microsoft engineers to analyze real-world use cases, identify skill gaps, and co-create strategies that blend academic rigor with hands-on industry application. The sessions also emphasized the importance of continuous curriculum review to keep pace with technological advancement and the evolving needs of employers.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in Kabarak University’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. By collaborating with a global leader in technology, the University continues to strengthen its mission of producing graduates who are not only job-ready but also capable of driving innovation and shaping the future of the digital economy.
Kabarak University extends its sincere appreciation to Microsoft ADC for hosting and facilitating the workshop and looks forward to sustained collaboration that will unlock new opportunities for students, faculty, and the wider technology community.
