In a powerful act of unity, mentorship, and community love, Kabarak University brought more than just a visit to Muserechi Secondary School in Baringo County on Saturday, 12th July 2025 - they brought family, fire, and a future-focused message that will echo in the hearts of students for years to come.

The outreach was led by Kabarak’s dynamic student-led groups — Kabarak Empowerment Club, Kabarak St. John’s, Kabarak Red Cross, and the ever-passionate Smile for Smile Initiative, a community-based organization founded by Kabarak alumni and 2023’s Mr. and Miss Kabarak, Austine Itebete and Kelio Sharon.

From the moment the Kabarak team arrived, the atmosphere was electric — laughter danced across the hills of Baringo as music, mentorship, and moments of joy unfolded. Students quickly warmed up to their guests, drawn by the relatability and authenticity of the young mentors before them — many of whom once sat in similar classrooms, with similar dreams.

 Mentorship With Meaning

The day featured interactive sessions centered around:

  • Menstrual Hygiene Awareness
  • Mental Wellness
  • The Power of Education
  • Personal Growth and Purpose

These weren’t just talks — they were conversations. The mentors opened up about their own journeys, their struggles, and their wins, showing the students that where you start does not define where you end up.

Bonding Beyond Books

Learning happens not just in books, but in laughter, in listening, in being seen.

After the mentorship, it was time to connect in a different language — fun. Students and mentors shared games, sang songs, played football and shared meals. In these simple but profound moments, mentorship took on a new form: belonging.

A Gift with Purpose

To crown the day, each student received a Smile Education Pack — filled with:

  • Exercise books
  • Pens
  • Mathematical sets
  • Personal hygiene items

A small gesture, but one that carried an enormous message: You are seen. You are loved. Keep going.

 A Full Circle Moment

For Smile for Smile founders Austine and Kelio, returning to serve alongside the clubs they once led was deeply symbolic.

Smile for Smile was born in the halls of Kabarak and now, to come back — leading impact, side by side with the Kabarak family — is a blessing beyond words.

The initiative, rooted in Kabarak’s ethos of faith, excellence, and service, is living proof that education at Kabarak doesn’t end at graduation — it expands into society.

 Gratitude and a Growing Partnership

The Principal and teachers at Muserechi were visibly moved, calling the event “one of the most impactful in the school’s history.”

There are already plans underway to forge ongoing mentorship and support programs between Kabarak and Muserechi — because when communities connect, transformation follows.

Kabarak University — Where Purpose Meets Passion

Through initiatives like this, Kabarak University continues to walk the talk of producing graduates who are academically excellent, spiritually grounded, and socially responsible. Whether in lecture halls or rural communities, the mission remains the same: To lead. To serve. To inspire.
