For decades, the feminist movement has been a cornerstone in the fight for women鈥檚 rights, gender equality, and the dismantling of patriarchal systems.^[1]Feminism has challenged the notion that sex and gender should dictate one鈥檚 position in society, advocating for the eradication of gender-based violence and systemic discrimination.^[2] However, the emergence of the gender movement, which champions transgender and non-binary identities, has sparked a complex debate. While the gender movement seeks to expand inclusivity beyond the binary of male and female,non-binary individuals continue to face systemic challenges, including legal erasure, social discrimination, and lack of representation. Many struggle with internalized stigma and exclusion from  cisgender people. ^[3]

It was a high-stakes scrum of gratitude and camaraderie as the KCB Group Rugby Team, led by Vice-Chairperson Mr. Mwita Brian, made a courtesy call to Kabarak University. Welcomed at the university boardroom by Prof. Gladys Kiptiony, Director of DELT (Excellence in Learning and Teaching), representing Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Kiplangat, the delegation was joined by Dr. Justine Oguta, Kabarak Rugby Chairman, and Coach Leo Ngetich. The atmosphere was charged with respect and appreciation, much like a last-minute conversion kick under floodlights.

In a showdown that had the crowd gripping their seats tighter than exam-week tension, Kabarak FC, under the astute guidance of Coach Dr. Justine Oguta, proved that their home turf is sacred ground. Facing a fiery Chemogoch side, the boys in red and white refused to be humbled on familiar soil, sealing a pulsating 2-1 victory that sent waves of jubilation across the stands.

Students from the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), both at the master鈥檚 and bachelor鈥檚 levels, are actively engaging in a community diagnosis project in Nanyuki. This initiative aims to collect, analyze, and provide valuable data to both the local community and county authorities. The insights gained will serve as a foundation for evidence-based policy formulation, ensuring that nutritional and health challenges are effectively addressed.

In African societies, the relationship between masculinity and feminism has long been contentious, especially due to the strict and definitive cultural gender roles.^[1]  A feminist is seen as a secularist woman who has an uttermost deep-seated hatred towards men and plans on staying single.^[2] As Chimamanda puts it: 鈥淸Y]ou hate men, you hate bras, you hate African culture, you think women should always be in charge, you don鈥檛 shave, you鈥檙e always angry, you don鈥檛 have a sense of humour, you don鈥檛 use deodorant鈥�.^[3] Feminism, in the eyes of society, is often misunderstood as a movement that hates men and threatens masculinity.^[4] Meanwhile, the law plays a crucial role in either upholding or challenging these societal norms. This article explores whether an African man can be a feminist by examining perceptions of masculinity, legal reforms, and the evolving role of men in gender equality.
